If You’re Worried You’ll Look Stiff in Your Headshot…This Is for You.

If you’ve been putting off getting a new headshot because you’re convinced you’ll look stiff or uncomfortable, you’re not alone. I hear that every week. At least a third of the people who walk into my studio start out by telling me they “just don’t photograph well” or that they’re “terrible in front of the camera.”

Here’s the truth:
You don’t need to be great in front of a camera.
You don’t even need to feel relaxed the whole time.

You just need a moment. One honest moment where you stop thinking about performing and you just are yourself. My entire process is designed to help you get there.

Here’s what that actually looks like:

First, I make sure the space feels safe and low-pressure.
You’re not being judged. You’re not expected to know what you’re doing. We talk, we set things up at a calm pace, and you get time to settle in without feeling rushed. The goal isn’t to “act natural.” The goal is to take the pressure off.

Then, I take posture off your mental plate.
Most stiffness comes from trying to control every part of your body while also worrying about your expression. So I give you clear, simple cues for how to stand and where to look. You don’t have to figure anything out. Once your posture is set, you can stop thinking about it entirely.

This is where the magic happens:
I get you talking. Thinking. Reacting.
Not about posing, but about something real.
And when your mind is engaged in an honest thought instead of “how do I look right now?”, your guard drops for a split second.

That moment - the real you coming through - is what I capture.

You don’t need to hold a perfect smile or deliver a perfect expression. You just need that one second where you forget there’s a camera in front of you. And I promise: everyone has that moment.

If you’ve been hesitating because you’re worried you’ll look stiff, I’d love to show you how different the experience can feel when you’re supported, coached, and not expected to perform. You might be surprised by how much you actually enjoy the process.
